A national leader in nutrition, Elaine works at the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health. Prior to that, she worked at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and at Harvard Medical School, where she was the lead dietitian responsible for patient investigation in metabolic and nutrition studies and was the editor of a newsletter and a reviewer of several national nutrition journals. She has contributed to numerous publications and has lectured nationally and internationally.
Catherine’s award-winning travel memoir-cookbook, A Year of Russian Feasts, hit the shelves in 2003, and at the same time she turned her attention to health-cookbooks. Working with specialized dietitians, Catherine wrote two critically acclaimed books: Eating for Pregnancy: The Essential Nutrition Guide and Cookbook for Today’s Mothers-to-Be, Second Edition (Da Capo, 2009) and Eating for Lower Cholesterol: A Balanced Approach to Heart Health with Recipes Everyone Will Love (Da Capo, 2005). Catherine freelances for magazines and newspapers. She is currently working on a book about the culture and food of the Philippines.
